First Communion

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated in April. Rooms 105 and 106 will receive the sacrament on April 21 at 1 PM and Room 109 and Religious Ed. on April 28, 2012 at 1pm.

A mandatory parent meeting will be held in the cafeteria on March 20 at 7 PM.

RETREAT

The retreat is part of your child's sacrament preparation. Children along with a parent(s) will participate in meaningful activities, prayer reflection and song, in anticipation of their big day.

Two retreats will be offered: Saturday, March 24 for rooms 105 and 106 and Saturday, March 31 for room 109 and Religious Ed. Both retreats will be held in the cafeteria from 1 PM - 4 PM.

FIRST COMMUNION DAY

All children meet in the school cafeteria at 12:15 PM. The Lifetouch photographer will take a group Communion picture before they line up for procession over to the church. Do not bring purses, gloves, prayer books, etc. They will need to be left behind in the cafeteria. In order to respect the solemnity of Holy Mass, no pictures may be taken during Mass. The children may go back into the church after Mass for pictures with Father or family members. A videographer will record the children during the group picture taking, processing to the Church and the entire Mass. He will also capture each child individually as he/she receives Holy Communion. The video is a great keepsake and a wonderful way to share the celebration with friends and family who were not able to attend or who may not have been able to see very well.

COMMUNION ATTIRE

When selecting your child's attire, choose clothing which will reflect the dignity and joy of the occasion. Schoolbelles, Mateja's, December's and many department stores carry traditional First Communion attire. Boys- Dress pants, white dress shirt and tie. Suits are preferable. Girls- White dress and veil or headpiece, white tights or anklets. Shoulders should be covered. No gloves or purses in Church.
