ART SMART
The Art Smart Program is an educational, fun and hands on way for students to learn about various artists’ lives and their works. The program which is run by parent volunteers began in 1999. Each year 3-4 different artists are introduced to the students. There is an 8 year cycle to ensure the students will learn about new artists each year. A 15-20 minute presentation (based on grade levels) is given to the class about the artist followed by an art project relating to the type of art or artist. Art Smart works hand in hand with the school art program by adding an important historical perspective, as well as building on the art techniques the students learn weekly.
